The two men entered the foyer armed with what were described as a sharp implement, and made threatening gestures and comments toward the staff of the bingo club in Moulsecoomb Way, before making off with approximately £1000 in cash.


A police spokesman has said the four members of staff were unhurt but very shaken after the ordeal which occurred on Sunday evening at 19:30.


The thieves were dressed in black with covered headsescaped the scene by a side entrance and were seen getting into a new style silver Mondeo saloon. They were described as being about 5ft 6in tall, of slim build and in their late 20s. The vehicle which had been stolen from Worthing on Saturday was found abandoned in Southall Road. Fortunatley no bingo players were in the building at the time of the robbery.
