Betfred are in the news today. The online sports betting, poker, casino, and bingo site operators have been in court after a complaint was filed with the ASA regarding a recent television advertisement.
The Advertising Standards Agency (ASA) have upheld a complaint suggesting Betfred’s recent television advertisement to be misleading. The advert promised viewers a free bet of equal value for anyone who signed up and placed a bet of between £5 and £50, but failed to include that to qualify for this promotion, the odds on the first bet needed to be evens or greater.
The Advertising Standards Agency (ASA) ruled that this requirement was "a significant condition likely to affect a viewer’s decision to take advantage of the offer," and therefore should have been included in the ad.
