Although it has been played in different forms in private games, land casinos and now online for hundreds of years by millions of people, the game of blackjack has very few rules.

There are those that say that’s what makes blackjack so enjoyable. Because it is so simple. Basically there just a few rules as they apply to the casino version or playing against any bank:

They are as follows:

• Players can stick on any hand that they want, while the bank has to reach seventeen or over, even if they cards they are holding have a higher  value than any of the players.
•  Players can draw as many cards as they want. However if their card value goes over 21, they are classed as being burst. In the unlikely event that all of the players all the table go over twenty one, the dealer has to play out the hand as a matter of etiquette.
• Players can double down on hands value at nine, ten or eleven either hard or soft.  However they are not obliged to. If they do decide to double down they can only draw one card.
• Players can split any pair that they draw, from deuces to aces inclusive. They can also double down on any eligible hands after they have split. (Nines, tens or elevens.) If they decide not to double down on an eligible hand, they can draw as many cards that they wish.
• Players can choose to take an insurance bet if they draw blackjack when the dealer is holding an ace, Insurance bets will pay even money in the vent that the dealer also makes blackjack. If the dealer fails to make blackjack, the bank will pay 6/4 on the initial stake and the insurance bet will be lost. The insurance bet can be no more or less than the player’s initial bet.
• If a player hits blackjack and the bank’s first card is anything apart from a face or an ace, then the player has to be paid out 6/4 on their stake before the hand can continue. If the bank is holding a ten, face or ace the hand has to be played with the only option being that player holding blackjack can take out insurance as explained above. 

These are all the rules in blackjack. It was set up to be a fun and fast moving game and that it has remained for all the years it has been played.
